Housing & Recovery Support

Our commitment to our clients is foremost

Challenge Trust also provides a variety of other support related services that are delivered through residences and houses at all of our service locations throughout the North Island. The majority of these residences are clustered around the Auckland region where we offer a comprehensive range of services. Each of the Housing and Recovery Support Services are carefully designed to meet the needs of clients and their families, to facilitate recovery and assist them in living their daily lives.

The options include permanent accommodation while in receipt of the services, food, personal cares and everything else that a person suffering from a mental health condition could possibly need, including qualified mental health staff, rehabilitation and clinical experts, counsellors and support workers.

Challenge Trust also designs its services to meet a wide range of cultures. Cultural support needs assessments (CSNA) are carried out with all new clients if they wish. Challenge Trust employs a Maori Development Manager who assists with Maori services, a Pacific Manager who assists with Pacific Island services and an Asian Manager who assists with Asian services. All clients are given an opportunity to have a cultural welcome into the service if they wish.

The staff who work in each service are qualified mental health professionals (QMHP). They are of different ages, genders and ethnicities. This is because Challenge Trust recognises the importance of clients engaging with people are similar in terms of their culture, gender and age group. A housing and recovery support service team consists of a Team Leader and staff with a diverse range of qualifications and skills that could include social work, psychology, occupational therapy and mental health support work qualifications.

To expand its reach to clients even further, Challenge Trust delivers mobile support services to individuals living within their own homes in the community. These mobile support services are designed to continue providing support to clients who are being reintegrated back into the community. At this stage of recovery, Challenge Trust aims to find accommodation, assists with budgeting skills and employment searching and engages clients in numerous other activities.
