Challenge Trust was founded in 1993 under the Charitable Trust Act 1957 and became an incorporated Charitable Trust in 1994. It started operating with one facility and five staff providing residential services to four mental health clients. Today it has grown into an organisation with 228 people, operating out of 20 sites, while providing services to in excess of 1,500 people.
Services provided include 24 hour residential accommodation, community support to people living in their own homes, educational services, employment and life skills training, advocacy, information, employment opportunities, family/whanau support and various housing options. Challenge Trust’s clients include people affected by mental illness, physical disability, intellectual disability, addictions, dual disability and dual diagnosis. The organisation is based on the North Island and located in the Auckland area, Northland, Waikato and the Bay of Plenty.
The Trust is governed by a Board who bring professional, complimentary skills to the governance role. The Board employs a CEO to lead the organisation and the Executive Management Team are responsible for managing the organisation.
